Three Lion’s opener, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow laid down a stable platform for their side. Consequently, both the right-handers put together an alliance of 159 runs in just under 20 overs. Thus, the England innings kickstarted in the top-most gear. Subsequently, the hosts kept cruising in the same gear throughout their innings.

Furthermore, the Australian bowlers veered off the track. Thus, the inexperience in the Australian bowling battery was palpable.

Alex Hales brought his masterpiece at his home ground. The right-hander capitalized on the good start provided by the England openers. The local lad scored a fine 147 off 92 balls. Hales clobbered 15 boundaries to the fence and scored five maximums.

Eoin Morgan also scored a quick 67 off 30 balls. Thus, in the course of his innings, he became the leading run-getter in ODI cricket for England.

In reply to hosts massive score, Australia collapsed like a house of cards. No batsman was able to bat right throughout the innings despite getting off to starts. England’s spin duo of Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali continued to breathe down the neck of the tourists. Both spinners scalped seven wickets between them.

Consequently, England was able to take an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the five-match ODI series.
