India’s premier Test spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has resumed bowling again, much to the delight of the Indian think tank, ahead of the five-match Test series against England.
Meanwhile, Ashwin sustained an injury on the right hand during a net session on day two of the practise game against Essex. As a result, the team management didn’t risk bringing him on the field.
However, Ravichandran Ashwin came on to bowl on day three and bowled five overs without picking any wicket. The match ended in a draw, with India getting a good chance of acclimatising to the conditions.
The batsmen got some runs under their belt with the middle-order coming good. However, the form of Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara will keep them thinking. On the other hand, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma were spectacular with the ball.
Later after the game ended, he took to Instagram to post exciting news for the fans. He posted a picture of him bowling in the nets, much to the relief of the team management.
“Just comfortably numb at the crease #essex #uk #indvseng,” the post read.
Ravichandran Ashwin is likely to play a key role in the Test series, considering the prevailing conditions in England. The spinners decided the feat of the limited-overs series, and it is likely to happen in the Tests.
Meanwhile, India have already received two injury blows ahead of the first Test. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar will miss the first three Tests, Jasprit Bumrah will be out of the opener.
The first Test between England and India commences on August 1 at Edgbaston.
