England survived an injury scare on day two of the ongoing first Test against India at Edgbaston after an X-ray revealed vice-captain Jos Buttler had not broken his finger.
The hard-hitting batsman injured his middle finger while fielding in the morning session. Jos Buttler dived to catch India captain Virat Kohli off Jimmy Anderson.
However, he ended up injuring his finger in the process. With a grimace on his face, Buttler called for sub straight away and was taken to the hospital shortly after for x-ray.
But medical tests confirmed no severe injury to the finger, much to England’s relief. The hosts took to Twitter to confirm the news.

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler returned to the field for the last session after icing his finger. The 27-year old got recalled to the Test set-up in May and impressed straight away. He was then named the vice-captain of the team for the ongoing series.
Buttler, however, could not do much with the bat in the first innings, as he failed to open his account.
Coming to the game, the series-opener is poised finely after Virat Kohli’s stunning century.
England were looking set to strengthen their grip on the game after demolishing India’s top-order. In reply to England’s 287, India were five down for just 100 on the board at one point.
However, Virat Kohli waged a lone battle to bail his side out of trouble. The 29-year old scored 149, as India recovered to post 274.
Ravichandran Ashwin then castled Alastair Cook to leave England nine for one at the end of day’s play. Jos Buttler would be looking to make his mark in the second innings, as he would be keen to justify his vice-captaincy role.
