India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun has given an update on availability of Jasprit Bumrah. India’s linchpin bowler is out of contention for the second Test match that will take place at home of cricket, Lord’s.
In fact, Jasprit Bumrah had missed the limited-overs leg against England after he suffered a blow to his left thumb in the first T20I against Ireland. Meanwhile, Bumrah had impressed on his maiden tour of South Africa. Therefore, he was missed dearly in the first Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Nevertheless, despite his injury, the selectors had included him in the first three Test squad.
“Jasprit Bumrah is in the squad, will be available for selection from the 2nd Test onwards based on his fitness,” the selectors said at the time of naming the squad.
Jasprit Bumrah had scalped 14 wickets on the South African tour. Thus, he was one of the biggest positive for the Indian team. Meanwhile, Bharat Arun confirmed that Bumrah is bowling fit. However, he is out of contention for the Lord’s Test match.
“Jasprit Bumrah is bowling fit. But out of contention for the second Test,” Bharat Arun said in the pre-match press conference.
India had dearly missed the services of Jasprit Bumrah and the visitors will have to play without their talisman fast bowler. Furthermore, Bhuvneshwar Kumar injury has also added salt to the wound.
On the other hand, India will look to bounce back following their 31 runs defeat in the first Test. Virat Kohli will like more support from the other Indian batsmen as the skipper was the lone warrior.
In fact, the bowlers once again did well as they scalped all the twenty wickets in the match. Thus, Bharat Arun will be happy with their performance.
