India’s southpaw opener Shikhar Dhawan believes they have a good chance to come back into the series. The visitors were trailing after the first two Test matches. However, they were able to get one back in the third Test match at Trent Bridge.

Thus, the win has done a world of good to the visitor’s confidence. The tourists were able to show a good character in the third Test match and were able to check the right boxes.

“We felt really good winning in such a dominant way especially after the first two losses, we showed good character and learned from our mistakes. We have a good chance to come back in this series, so we have to come up with the same routines,” Shikhar Dhawan told Sky Sports ahead of the fourth Test match.

The left-handed batsman went on to add that they need to stick to the basics. Shikhar Dhawan said they will have to be patient in their approach.

“We need to stick to the process once you know the conditions. We will have to be patient. I’ve backed my plan and I’ve learned the ball swings quite late here. I’ve analyzed myself and realize I can’t play too short”.

Shikhar Dhawan said he was mentally strong after he could not get going in the first Test match at Edgbaston. In fact, Dhawan took out the vertical bat shots from his armory and focussed on hitting the ball with the horizontal bat.

Thus, he was able to give a good start to the visitors in both the innings as the opening partnership put together 60 runs in the each of the innings.

“I didn’t do well in the first game, but my mental strength was very strong and I saw they were very patient with their line and length. So I had to be strong.”

Consequently, Dhawan will like to give another good platform to the Indian side.

Joe Root won the toss and decided to bat first. England didn’t get off to a good start as they are 21 for the loss of two wickets.
