Eng vs Ind 2018: India Create History After Stellar Show in Southampton

Team India bowlers were able to create history after a fine performance in the England first innings at Ageas Bowl, Southampton. The visitors were able to skittle out the hosts for a score of 246 runs to dominate the first day of the proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Indian pace battery was right on the money. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowler as he landed most of the deliveries in the corridor of uncertainty. Thus, Bumrah was able to borne fruit as he scalped three wickets.

Indian bowlers are continuing to impress.

In fact, the Indian pace battery has continued to show an upward rise in improvement graph in the recent times. They have been able to produce results while bowling in the right areas.

India had England on the backfoot after they reduced the hosts at 86 runs for six wickets. However, a fine partnership of 81 runs between Moeen Ali and Sam Curran rescued England from the dire states.

Meanwhile, Indian fast bowlers have dominated the proceedings in the ongoing five-match series. They have scalped 46 wickets out of the 56 English wickets. Furthermore, they have taken these wickets at an impressive strike-rate of 44.2. In fact, this is the best strike rate for Indian bowlers while bowling outside the Asian conditions, excluding Zimbabwe.

On the other hand, India’s previous best performance in England conditions came way back in 1986. Indian fast bowlers scalped 41 wickets in the three-match series at a strike rate of 51.2 when the Kapil Dev-led side won by 2-0.

The best strike rate is held by the Australian bowlers when they scalped a wicket on every 33.5 balls in the three-match series of 1888. Australian fast bowlers had taken a total of 26 wickets in that series.
