Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen and former Pakistan quick Shoaib Akhtar hailed Virat Kohli’s knock. Pietersen said that Kohli is the King while the Rawalpindi Express noted that Kohli is the benchmark for all the batsmen.

The Indian skipper scored his 22nd Test hundred which was his first on the England soil. Thus, Kohli who had an ordinary record so far in England conditions was able to update his CV in style.

In fact, Kohli’s welcome to the crease was booed by the crowd. However, he received a standing ovation when was the last man out on 149 runs. Thus, Kohli earned his respect from the English crowd

Kohli lets his bat do all the talking.

Consequently, the Indian captain was able to give a perfect response to his critics as he let his bat do all the talking. He was losing partners at the other end. Therefore, he was the lone warrior of the innings and didn’t he fought like one. Yes, he was also fortunate as he was given two lives by Dawid Malan.

King Kohli brought his masterclass to the table as he proved that why he is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world.

In fact, India had their backs against the wall while they were tottering at 100-5. Thus, they were in arrears by 187 runs and were staring at conceding a huge first innings lead.

But there was Virat Kohli, standing between England’s dominance. He was India’s only hope and the right-hander changed the despair into hope by playing his tour de force.

Furthermore, he was the perfect driver that got his team close to their destination. He rode his innings in the topmost gear after reaching his hundred. Kohli gave respect to his number one nemesis in England’s team, James Anderson. However, there were no speed breakers in his knock when he decided to cut loose.

The dark clouds were hovering over India’s collapse but Kohli made sure that he batted like a wind to devour all the threat.

England currently leads by 22 runs with nine wickets in the kitty. Thus, the Day 3 will determine which way the tide turns.
