Eng vs Ind 2018: Rishabh Pant – First Indian Keeper to Take Five Catches on Debut

Rishabh Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to take five catches in a debut match. Thus, Pant is having a dream debut in the ongoing third Test match against England at Trent Bridge.

Pant, who replaced Dinesh Karthik has done justice to his role so far. There are doubts raised over his wicketkeeping skills. He may have struggled to grab the ball on a couple of occasions but he was good overall. However, the Delhi lad was able to come up roses.

Rishabh Pant makes a dream debut at the biggest stage.

In fact, it is never easy to keep in the England conditions where the ball moves and dips on the wicketkeeper. However, Pant was up to the mark in his maiden appearance in the Indian whites.

Alastair Cook was Rishabh Pant’s first catch in the red ball version. Pant moved swiftly to his left to take a good catch. Meanwhile, Pant best catch of the day came when he took a one-handed blinder to send previous Test hero, Chris Woakes on his way. The ball was banged in short by Hardik Pandya and Pant did well to take a good catch.

Rishabh Pant also impressed with his batting skills. He danced down the track on his second ball to hit Adil Rashid for a six. Thus, it goes to show the confidence the young lad has in his abilities as a batsman.

In fact, it is well known that Rishabh Pant knows to bat in only one mode and that is in the topmost gear. However, he scored 24 off 51 balls to show he can bat out of his character as well.

Thus, the Delhi batsman has had a dream debut thus far and would like to carry forward the good work.

India currently leads by a massive 292 runs and have eight wickets in hand. Consequently, India is in a commanding position whereas the hosts have their backs against the wall.
