ENG vs IND 2018: Sourav Ganguly Backs India to Win ODI Series in England

Former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly has backed India to win the ODI series in England. India was able to win the T20I series against England of late.

Ganguly believes India has got a balanced side which can help them in savouring success in English conditions.

Meanwhile, India had ticked the right boxes in the shortest format of the game. Thus, they would like to repeat their performance in the 50-overs format.

In fact, it is expected the One-Day series is going to bring a fine contest as it is going to be 1st rank vs 2nd rank team.

“England is a good side, they are a very good batting unit. But bowling is the weaker part of their game. India will fancy their chances against this English team (after) the way they won yesterday (Sunday), chasing 200,” Ganguly said at his book launch.

Ganguly added a lot of good Indian teams had done well in the England conditions. In fact, the Prince of Kolkata believes this Indian team can win in England.

“A lot of good Indian sides have been tested in England and some of the better ones have done well here and won before. I think this Indian team can be like that, they can definitely win here this summer. Definitely the ODIs and possibly the Tests too,” Ganguly said.

The former southpaw batsman went on to add Indian team is a batting heavyweight. In fact, Ganguly said Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan could better his and Tendulkar partnership records.

“It is one of the most talented batting units in limited-overs in world cricket at the moment. The top-order is brilliant with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, and if they continue to score more runs at the top, they can challenge my partnership records with Sachin Tendulkar soon”.

Meanwhile, India has played a musical chair game with the number four batting position. However, Ganguly believes India skipper Virat Kohli should take up the spot to end the Indian dilemma. In fact, Kohli has done a great job while batting at one down and he is unlikely to demote himself in the batting order.

Kohli has been batting at No. 4, he is doing the right thing. That’s what he is going to do (going ahead),” Dada opined.
