Eng vs Ind 2018: Sourav Ganguly Comes Hard at Ravi Shastri’s ‘Best Travelling Team’ Statement

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has come out hard at Ravi Shastri’s ‘Best Travelling Team’ statement. Indian head coach Ravi Shastri had stated that the current Virat Kohli’s men had had the best run in the last 15-20 years.

However, it doesn’t make any sense to compare different teams of different eras. In fact, Ravi Shastri has always put this current lot of players on the top of the shelf despite no results in the overseas conditions. Definitely, they have shown the promise to do well in the alienate conditions, however, the results have eluded them thus far.

It is an immature comment by Ravi Shastri, says Sourav Ganguly.

Surprisingly, Shastri comments comes after India loss in the five-match series against England. However, it is well known Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly shares a sour relation.

Shastri had said in the pre-match press conference,  “I can’t see any other Indian team in the last 15-20 years that has had the same run in such a short time, and you have had some great players playing in those series. So the promise is there, and it’s just about getting tougher mentally. You have got to hurt when you lose matches because that’s when you look within and come out with the right kind of answers to combat such situations and get past the finishing line. One day you will if you believe.”

Subsequently, former Indian skipper, Sunil Gavaskar had also hit out at Ravi Shastri.

Sourav Ganguly said one should not pay much attention to Ravi Shastri’s statement. The Prince of Kolkata said it is immature of Ravi Shastri to talk like this.

“It is immature of him to talk like this. You shouldn’t pay too much attention to his words. What he says and when he says no one knows. I don’t want us to focus too much on his statement. All I want is that India plays good cricket in this last Test,” Ganguly told IndiaTV.

Doesn’t makes sense to compare different teams of different eras.

Ganguly said it is not fair to liken teams of different eras. They represent one Indian team and it is doesn’t make sense to compare them. Dada went on to give his best wishes to the team and wants them to do well in the ongoing fifth Test.

“It is not possible to compare players and teams from different eras with each other. We all have played for the Indian team, whether it is Dhoni or Dravid or others, we all have represented the same Indian team. We support Virat Kohli and the rest of the boys.  I wish the Indian side good luck for the fifth and final Test of the series starting at The Oval on September 7,” he added.

Sourav Ganguly has hit the nail on the head as he himself knows what it is like to lead India and produce results. On the other hand, Ravi Shastri has his own opinion, which is a bit hard to digest.
