Former England bowling coach, Troy Cooley has backed James Anderson and Stuart Broad to fire in the upcoming five-match Test series against India.
Meanwhile, England has experienced a warm summer with no rains at all. These have given rise to the speculations that spinners will play a key role on the dry pitches. However, Troy Cooley has backed the hosts to do well riding on their pace duo.
“James Anderson and Stuart Broad can trouble the Indian batsmen. When England pitches get dry, reverse swing becomes the key. When the wicket is dry, and the ball is not seaming as much, the reverse comes into play. England is masters in reverse swing in their country,” Cooley said.
Cooley feels the Duke Ball will reverse when it becomes old, and Anderson will have the advantage. He also added the long series would be a test of endurance of James Anderson and Stuart Broad.
“The conditions are expected to be a little harder and dries. They have to bowl much faster, using the reverse swing. They have to put in more effort. It will definitely test their endurance,” Cooley added.
Meanwhile, Anderson and Broad are returning from injuries and there will be speculations on their fitness. However, Cooley is confident the old guns know how to bring in experiences in these games.
“I think their numbers state that (they are the best in the business). Both are different. Stuart Broad is tall and hits the deck while James Anderson swings it both ways. They cause batsmen more problem to solve. They know how to bowl and how to use these conditions very well,” Cooley concluded.
