Team India batsmen adopted a cautious approach as they scored 81 runs in the opening session of the Day 2 of the ongoing fourth Test match. India lost their first wicket when the scoreboard reached 37 runs. Stuart Broad got one to nip back into the right-handed KL Rahul. Thus, the flamboyant batsman could not add much to his overnight score as he departed for 19 runs.
Shikhar Dhawan showed good resistance in his knock of 23 runs. However, the southpaw batsman’s stay at the crease was cut short when he feathered an edge to England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. Dhawan was also shown the way back to the pavilion by Stuart Broad.

India was able to come good in the first session.
However, Virat Kohli once again looked at ease as he scored his runs at a brisk pace. Kohli got to the pitch of the ball on the second ball of his innings to get off the mark. However, with the help of edge which went for a boundary, Virat Kohli brought his 6000 runs in the red ball version. He became the 10th Indian batsman and the second quickest after Sunil Gavaskar.
The Little Master took 117 innings whereas Kohli took two innings more to reach the milestone in 119 innings.

On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara also showed good fight with the bat. He took his time early on in his innings and showed more intent when he batted with his skipper. Pujara was able to pierce the gaps in the field and picked his runs while running between the wickets. Kohli-Pujara also brought up their 50-runs partnership.
However, England was not up to the mark as they didn’t hit the right length at regular intervals. Furthermore, Joe Root adopted strange tactics as he gave the ball to Keaton Jennings towards the fag end of the first session.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the opening session of Day 2.
In 2014, James Anderson drew the edge of Kohli's bat with 12% of his deliveries. In the same series, Moeen Ali did so with 17% of his deliveries. #ENGvIND

Why didn’t England have a short leg or silly point fielder for Rashid? Kohli would have been out off his first ball #ENGvIND
