ENG vs IND 2018: Virat Kohli will be One of India’s Greatest Captains – Virender Sehwag
Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag feels current skipper Virat Kohli will go down as India’s one of the best skipper in the history of cricket.
Meanwhile, so far, Kohli has lead India in 38 Tests matches winning 22 matches. Furthermore, they have lost seven matches under Kohli’s captaincy, while nine Tests ended in a draw.
Virender Sehwag noted no one thinks of the statistics while leading any team. However, he noted that Kohli is improving and he will go down as one the best.
“No skipper constantly thinks about the number of matches he has won during his captaincy. Our work as a captain is to play well and guide the team to the victory,” Sehwag told IndiaTV. “As captain, Kohli’s performence is above par and he has improved in batting as well. He’ll be one of the best India captains in the time to come. There’s no doubt about that,” Virender Sehwag added.
However, India will face England in the fourth Test at Southampton from tomorrow to save the series. They bounced back at Trent Bridge beating host by 203 runs.
Virat Kohli will surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record
Besides eyeing a win in the fourth Test, Kohli will look to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 6000 Test runs. Tendulkar is the second fastest after Sunil Gavaskar to score 6000 runs in 120 innings.
On the other hand, Kohli already has 5994 to his name in 118 innings. Virender Sehwag feels Kohli will surpass Tendulkar’s record in the next innings.
“I am confident that he’ll achieve this feat in his next innings. However, the scoring rate comes down after scoring this much runs as initially you play fearless cricket and score quick runs, things become difficult after a while because bowlers start to know you better and age factor also come in,” Sehwag signed off.
