Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar is hopeful that Team India skipper Virat Kohli along with team members will perform better in the upcoming five-match Test series against England.

Meanwhile, Kohli and his men will feature in a gruelling series which will commence from August 1 at Edgbaston. The Indian team will be keen to overhaul the results from their dismal last tour in 2014.

However, Sachin is hopeful that Kohli will deliver while donning the whites. He also reiterated his performance has nothing to do with that in 2014.

Virat’s 2014 performance has got nothing to do with how he would perform in the upcoming series. And it’s not just about Virat’s performance. If you ask me if I am hopeful of a good show from Virat, my answer would be “Why only Virat? I am hopeful of a good show from the Indian team. It’s the team that needs to perform well,” Tendulkar said to PTI.

Key to Root's ODI success was picking Kuldeep from his hand: Tendulkar

Kuldeep will be in action:

Tendulkar feels the young wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav could still prove to be a handful if the home team prepares dry surfaces.

England skipper Joe Root tackled Kuldeep brilliantly in the ODI series.

When asked if these are ominous signs for the Indian team, Tendulkar, however, begged to differ.

I don’t think all the other England batsmen have played Kuldeep well. The kind of weather that has been in England with the sun baking the pitches, Kuldeep will be very much in action and so will be the other Indian spinners,” he said.

Mumbaikar, Sachin Tendulkar also opined if the pitches are green, then the host team will certainly have an advantage over India.

In conclusion, he admitted that missing Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah is a setback. However, he is confident that the rest of the pacers will give their best.
