Indian Test deputy, Ajinkya Rahane dropped a catch while fielding at the fourth slip on day one of the Edgbaston Test against England.
Ishant Sharma was able to produce the outside edge of Keaton Jennings bat. However, Rahane could not hold on to his chance.
Rahane dived to his right but bungled in his attempt. In fact, it should have held by Rahane, as he got both hands to the ball. However, there is no denying the fact that Ajinkya Rahane is India’s best slip fielder in the recent past.
Rahane could not hold on to his chance.
They say, catches win you matches. Thus, it is pivotal for Indian fielders to take anything that comes towards them. Consequently, it is imperative to back the bowlers for their efforts.
Meanwhile, Indian captain Virat Kohli again made a surprising selection decision. Kohli dropped Chesteshwar Pujara to get KL Rahul in the batting line-up.
Pujara didn’t have the best of County seasons in which he scored 172 runs while playing for the Yorkshire.
Thus, Pujara had to pay the price for his poor form. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin was able to take the crucial wicket of Alastair Cook in the first session itself.
In fact, this was the eighth time that Ashwin was able to get the better off the experienced England batsman. Furthermore, there is something for the spinners on the pitch to keep Ravichandran Ashwin interested.
Meanwhile, England has got off to a cautious start, as they are currently passed the fifty-run mark for the loss of one wicket.
However, Indian seamers have lacked the discipline in their line and length. Umesh Yadav was expensive in his first spell, whereas, Ishant Sharma has veered off the track.
