West Indies cricket is in complete disarray, as apart from the T20 format, their performance in Tests and One-Day Internationals has been a total failure.
Once a dominant side in the world of cricket, the Windies are now a pale shadow of themselves in international cricket, and that has been very embarrassing for them. Windies are currently playing in England and were thrashed in the first Test match inside three days.
England’s Ashes-winning captain Michael Vaughan was so aggravated by the West Indian performance that he went onto say that this series will be ‘sad to watch’.
Windies lost 19 wickets in a single day play in the first ever day-night Test match played in England at Edgbaston. In a game, where Alastair Cook scored 243 runs in England’s first innings, Jermaine Blackwood was the only Windies batsman to go past 40 and scored 79 off 76 balls in their first innings.

The former England captain was so disheartened to see the performance by the Windies players that he said,
“Every time they have arrived in England, they seem to have got worse.”
West Indies have not won a Test match in England for 17 years now. Vaughan who captained England in 51 test matches feels sorry for the youngsters in the Windies side, as he says there’s no one to teach them and giving them time is the only way to get something out of them.
With the absence of senior players like Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy from the Test set up due to a disagreement with the West Indian board over a selection. Vaughan said,
“There are a lot of young players in the West Indies side, and you need to give them time, but I find it difficult to think they can go on without any senior players. There is no one there to teach them. I fear that this series could be one of the saddest for Test cricket.”
