England and Wales Cicket Board’s (ECB) selectoion committee decided to announce a huge 16-man squad for ODI tour of Sri Lanka in November. England team, who lost to ODI series to India at home, will travel for 7 match ODI series beginning on November 16, 2014.
The only surprise inclusion to the ODI squad that lost to India was Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor addition, who has been included for the first time since September 2013. Along with Taylor, all-rounder Ravi Bopara gets a call up to the ODI squad after being left out against India this summer.
The most surprising thing was England included 6 fast bowlers which has big names like James Anderson, while younsters like Gurney who impressed the most. On the other hand, Stuart Broad continues to remain unavailable for selection as he continues recovery from a knee operation after Test series against India earlier this year.
England, meanwhile, have also announced a squad for England Performance Programme (EPP) this winter comprising of 19 players and will be headed by former England director Andy Flower.
The squad will be assembled at the National Cricket Performance Centre, Loughborough, before spinners will for a three week camp in Sri Lanka, while the fast bowlers will train in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
