England can tackle Pakistani spin as well as UAE heat, claims Joe Root
On Saturday, English batsman Joe Root claimed that his side can stand firm against the twin challenge of Pakistan spin and the heat of the gulf in their three match-Test series. Two months ago, England won the Ashes at their home but now they face the threat from Pakistan who won the series 3-0 in their last meet in the Middle East.
Joe Root said that as a team it would be difficult to beat Pakistan but he added that their team have also proven their worth in last six months and they are capable of doing things which seems a bit too much for them.
Root admitted that the temperature in the high 30’s will have an effect over his game but he also added that he want to make a big contribution in this series and will play extremely well to do that.
Last time when both teams meet in Gulf, off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took 24 wickets and left –armer Abdul Rehman took 19. This time Pakistan are bringing along with them in-form leg spinner Yasir Shah and left-armer Zulfiqar baber. Besides spinner, Pakistani’s also having three left-arm seamers in Wahab Riaz, Rahat Ali and Junaid Khan in the squad of 16.
