James Tredwell, the former England Cricket Team off-spinner has decided to bid adieu from all forms of cricket. The 36-year-old represented England in two Tests, 45 ODIs and 17 T20Is.

Meanwhile, Tredwell played his last international match was a T20I against India at Edgbaston in 2014. The veteran cricketer debuted for Kent in 2000 and ends his career with 830 wickets in 613 senior appearances.

However, James Tredwell hasn’t played the first-team level this season because of a keyhole surgery he had to undergo on his chronic shoulder problem during the summer.

Speaking on his retirement to Kentcricket.co.uk, Tredwell expressed his gratitude towards the club and the county. Tredwell also noted that he is keen to give something back to the game and seemed excited about future challenges.

I feel very grateful to have been able to represent both my county and my country during my career,” James Tredwell said. “I have had some great times on and off the cricket field but now it’s time for both me and the club to move on. It will be exciting to give something back to the game I love, whether it be as an umpire or coach – I will see where each role takes me and I am excited by the challenge ahead,” he continues.

James Tredwell made outstanding contributions to Kent

Paul Downton, Director of Cricket at Kent, reflected on Tredwell’s successful career at the county. He also congratulated him on his career and talked highly on his commitment and loyalty.

James Tredwell has made an outstanding contribution to Kent in all formats throughout an incredibly successful career,” Downton said.

His commitment and loyalty to the County are admired by teammates and supporters alike – he is also hugely respected by his fellow professionals. The dressing room will be a very different place without Treddy and I would like to wish him all the very best for the future,” he signed off.
