England vs Australia: Jos Buttler's Favourite Position To Bat Is As A Top-Order Batter In T20 Cricket 1

England’s wicket-keeper batsman — Jos Buttler is flexible to bat any position but his favourite position in the T20 cricket is as an opener. In the ongoing series against Australia, Buttler is playing the role of opener usually, he bats at the middle-order.

The attacking batsman amassed 77 runs off 54 balls, striking six boundaries and two gigantic sixes in the second T20I match against Australia on Sunday. His outstanding knock led England to seal the series. 

Jos Buttler, in the recent interaction, said that he had most of his success in T20 at the top. He is delighted to get the opportunity to bat at the opening position. He is ready to take up ay job which his team needs.

“It probably is my favourite position to bat in T20 cricket,” said Buttler. “I’ve had most of my success in T20 at the top, but that’s natural – if you bat in the top three in T20, it’s the best place for everyone.”

“We’ve probably got eight or nine guys who’d stick their hand up to bat in the top three; I’m very happy there, but I’m also very happy to do whatever the team needs of me.”

Jos Buttler has mostly batted at the middle order but he is comfortable to score runs that his captain or coach allots him. He said that there is healthy competition in the team for the place which will serve England to go forward.

“I’ve played a lot of my career – T20 and one-day cricket – batting in the middle, so I’m very comfortable doing that as well. It’s really for the coach and captain to decide,” said Buttler.

“We’ve got lots of strength in depth; it’s something that is the mark of good teams, good players fighting over positions and that will serve us well going forward.”

Talking about his match-winning performance, Buttler said that it was a great feeling to bat till the last ball of the game and lead his side to victory.

“It was a great feeling to be able to walk off at the end, having won the game for your team – obviously a big game for us, with the chance to win the series, which we were determined to do,” Jos Buttler concluded.

England and Australia will play the third T20I match on 8th September although the host has already won the series.
