The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are looking to scrap domestic T20 leagues, The Hundred and the Vitality Blast to bring in a new standard T20 league in the country. The T20 leagues in the country which is colliding alongside Major League Cricket (MLC) and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
In recent times South Africa and the United Arab Emirates have established their own T20 leagues in 2023, which proved to be a successful event earlier this year, which has added pressure on the England Cricket Board to conduct the sole event in England. ECB is planning to scrap the T20 Blast and the Hundred competitions entirely to form a new T20 tournament in the country.

According to the reports in Times, ECB and the county head will sit for a meeting to decide the proposed-new T20 leagues in the country, as they are concerned about having two short (Vitality Blast and The Hundred) T20 tournaments in the country.
It is said that the talks about the new tournament are still in the initial stage as England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and county teams as well as private investors are interested in the potential ownership of the T20 league in the country.
Major League Cricket Tournament Is Going To Affect The T20 Blast – Glenn Maxwell
Australian veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell feels that the introduction of the Major League Cricket tournament has affected T20 Blast in England and reckons that the players would like to take up the opportunity to go USA to play in a two-week tournament added that the 14 games tournament would be hectic for the players as they got play three games in four days.
“I think now the Major League Cricket tournament’s come in, that’s going to affect the Blast really badly, When you’ve got an opportunity to go over to America for two weeks, compared to 14 games here with a stressful schedule where you’re travelling all over the place,” Glenn Maxwell said.

“There was one week where we played on a Tuesday in Durham, Thursday in Leeds and then Friday here in Birmingham – that’s three games in four days with a day’s travel in between,” Glenn Maxwell added.
With the rise of Global leagues, IPL franchises have ownership in CPL, SA20, ILT20, and MLC so far and there are also talks going on with Saudi Arabia mulling setting up the World’s richest cricket competition in the world and it will interesting to see how England establish their own T20 league in the country.
