India against England has always been a treat to watch. The much awaited five match test series is scheduled to start on November 9 at Rajkot. The England cricket team led by Alastair Cook arrived in India on Wednesday for the same. It is going to be a thrilling encounter between two of the top sides in the world. The visitors landed in India at around 3pm and progressed to their hotel.
Before this, there has been only seven 5 match series between the two cricketing nations. However, this one is the first since the 1984-85 series between India and England. India was captained by Sunil Gavaskar and England David Gower respectively. The series was best remembered for Mohammad Azharuddin’s world record of a hat-trick of tons in the first 3 Test matches.
The England cricket team will be proceeding to Rajkot for the first test match before which they are to have one practice session at the cricket club of India’s Brabourne stadium on November 5. The remaining Test matches are to be played at Visakhapatnam (Nov 17-21), Mohali (Nov 26-30), Mumbai (Dec 8-12) and Chennai (Dec 16-20). Visakhapatnam and Rajkot both are hosting their first-ever test matches.
England recorded a terrific Test series win over India on their last tour as they came from behind to beat India 2-1 in the series. Alastair Cook was England’s skipper in that series too.
