In the recent column written for Times of India, Sunil Gavaskar however, believes that this idea should be implemented in the long run. According to him, the teams should have different players for different formats for higher success. For the England team, former Indian cricketer said that only Ben Stokes and Jos Butler are the Test cricketers who are suited to play in the shortest format.

“I like the idea of England fielding an entirely different team for white-ball cricket. Their success in the shorter formats has a lot to do with this line of thinking. I have always believed in horses for courses and I am sure other teams will follow this shortly. Ben Stokes and Jos Butler will return for sure but I don’t see any other player from the Test team making the cut in T20s,” Srikkanth opined.
