England’s Sam Curran said that it feels like a dream after winning the Man of the Match in the first Test match against India. In fact, the 20-year old became the youngest England player to win the Man of the Match as England went on to win by 31 runs.

The youngster had a perfect match as he scalped four wickets in the first innings. Curran was able to move the ball both ways. Furthermore, the seam bowler was able to land his deliveries at the right place in the corridor of uncertainty.

Sam Curran shows the promise to be the future of England Cricket.

The southpaw batsman showed the resistance in the first inning as he scored a fighting 24. Meanwhile, the young lad was able to change the course of the match with the bat in the second innings.

England was tottering at 87 for 7 and India were the favorites. However, the left-hander showed his class as he scored a valiant 65-ball 63 to keep the hosts in the hunt. Consequently, it turned out to be match-changing innings.

Sam Curran said that it is a surreal feeling for him. Curran said in the post-match presentation, “I can’t take it all at the moment. It is all very special and feels like a dream. Just couldn’t get any sleep last night. Obviously, when Jimmy took Karthik out first up it gave us a lot of confidence”.

Curran who batted with the tail in the second innings said that he tried to take his notes when Virat Kohli batted with the lower order in the first innings. Former Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara also passed on some inputs to the youngster.

“To be honest, I looked to learn from how Virat batted with the tail in the first innings. I spoke to Kumar (Sangakkara) the other day in the hotel and he told me a thing or two about batting with the tail and was lucky it all came off the middle in the end”.

Ben Stokes was able to scalp four wickets as he changed the course of the match. Stokes was also able to take down the wicket of big fish, Virat Kohli. The Surrey lad, Sam Curran also gave credit to England’s talisman all-rounder.

“Luckily for Stokesy, he got a perfect spell this morning and changed it for us. I just try to take it like another game, but it is quite hard with the Barmy Army chanting out there, but I look to take it all in and am trying to learn in only my second game”.

Curran went on to add that he always wanted to play Test cricket at the topmost level. The left-hander said that he is trying to learn his lessons from the senior players in the team.

“This (Test cricket) is what I always wanted – playing Test cricket in front of these big crowds, with these guys I have grown up watching and I am looking to learn everything I can from guys like Jimmy, Broad, Stokes every day”.
