England won the second Test match at Lord’s against India in a convincing way by an innings and 159 runs. The hosts were dominant from the first session and India faced an ignominious defeat. Sportzwiki brings you the Match Report.

The visitors didn’t turn up well for the second Test match and it was palpable in the way they played. They were skittled out for a paltry 107 in the first innings and given the arduous conditions, it was acceptable. However, to get a bundle out for a 130 in the second innings was a shame.

England was dominant and India was Poor.

In fact, India was always catching up in the game. If you want to compete in a Test match, you cannot get all out for a mere 107. That was the match there. You don’t make comebacks from that position, you make miracles.

James Anderson was the chief destroyer in the first innings with five wickets. India had no clue to counter England’s swing bowling and they looked hapless.

In fact, India did well in the first session of Day three where they scalped four wickets. However, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes took the game away from the visitors as they put together an alliance of 189 runs. Woakes scored his maiden century and helped England put their noses in front.

Furthermore, the talisman all-rounder scalped four wickets in the match to be adjudged the Man of the Match. It was a complete performance from the hosts as they ticked all the right boxes.

India was competitive in the first Test match at Edgbaston, however, it was a poor performance from the tourists in the second. The openers have struggled to get going in the swinging conditions. The Batting order has looked bleak and they need to come up with a better performance.

India is 2-0 down in the five-match series and it will be a miraculous comeback if they are able to bounce back in the remaining matches. However, with the way their batting is performing, it looks an uphill task.

The third Test will take place at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from August 18.
