England vs India 2018: 3rd Test Match – India’s 1st Innings Report

India could not add much to their overnight score as they bundled out for 329 runs. Thereby, India was able to add only 22 runs to their Day 1 score of 307 runs. In fact, there was a delayed start to the day’s play because of rain.

The onus was on Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin on the second day. However, both the batsman were bowled by Stuart Broad. Thus, it was a matter of time that India’s lower order perished. Pant scored 24 and Ashwin 14 runs as Trent Bridge wore a clouds blanket.

India came up with a better batting performance.

Mohammed Shami went for a big heave and was safely caught by Stuart Broad. James Anderson didn’t waste any time in getting the better of Jasprit Bumrah as Indian fast bowler was cleaned up on the first ball.

Meanwhile, it was Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane’s partnership of 159 runs which put the visitors in the driving seat. The Indian captain and deputy played some delightful strokes as they took the attack on the opposition.

In fact, India was given a good platform as KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan was able to put 60 runs for the opening wicket partnership.
