England vs India 2018: Hanuma Vihari Gets Surprised by Maiden Test Call

Hanuma Vihari is surprised after he received his maiden Test call in the Indian side. The right-hander was called up to the Indian side for the final two Test matches against England.
Thus, the talented batsman received his opportunity after impressing in the domestic circuit. Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw also received his maiden call-up to the Indian side. However, Murali Vijay and Kuldeep Yadav were shown the exit doors by Indian selectors.

Meanwhile, Hanuma Vihari is one of the most prolific performers in the domestic season. In fact, Vihari has a fine average of 59.45 in his first-class career, which is the best among the active batsman. Steven Smith has the average of 57.278 which is the second best.
“To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting a call. I was preparing for the quadrangular series when I got a call this evening. I am leaving tomorrow and will be in England on August 24,” he told Hindustan Times.
Vihari scored 253 runs in the three innings of the tri-series against Windies A and England Lions, with the best of 147. Recently, he scored a fine 148 against South Africa A side.
Hanuma Vihari is over cloud nine after getting his Test call and looks forward to taking a leaf out of world’s best player’s book.
“It is a really exciting moment for me. I am looking forward to going and spending time with some of the best players in world cricket. It will be an opportunity of a lifetime as you don’t get to be around such players every day. I want to learn as much as I can staying around them and also wish to learn how to prepare for an international game,” he said.
Vihari who plays for Andhra in the domestic circuit scored 752 runs in the last season of the Ranji Trophy. Thus, he scored his runs at an impressive average of 94 in the six matches. He also scored his best of 302 in the previous season.
Hanuma Vihari also scored in the Irani Trophy for the Rest of India. The right-hander made a fine 183 against Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha.
