India’s lanky fast bowler Ishant Sharma is on the brink of entering the elite list of Indian bowlers. Ishant Sharma has thus far scalped 249 wickets in his career which is 85 Test matches long.
Consequently, India’s most experienced fast bowler is one wicket away from taking his 250th dismissal. Thus, Ishant Sharma will join the likes of Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bishan Singh Bedi who have taken more than 250 wickets. However, Ishant Sharma has taken 249 wickets at an average of 35.16. In fact, the Delhi based pacer has taken the most number of matches to take 249 wickets as an Indian bowler.
Meanwhile, Sharma has been India’s pack leader in the ongoing tour of England. He has made the most of his experience as he taken 11 wickets in the three Test matches thus far. Ishant has taken five-wicket haul eight times where he has taken 10-wicket haul once in his career.
The tall fast bowler has put on an exhibition of fine fast bowling in the ongoing series. Ishant has been able to take the ball away from England’s left-handed openers and has breathed down their neck.
On the other hand, the ongoing five-match series is nicely set up. England was able to win the first two Test matches whereas India bounced back to make it 2-1. England won the first match by 31 runs while they dominated the second to win by an innings and 159 runs.
Meanwhile, India was able to win the third Test match at Trent Bridge by a massive margin of 203 runs. India was able to tick the right boxes and made a come back into the series.
The fourth Test match will take place at Aegis Bowl, Southampton from 30th August. The penultimate match will also bring an opportunity for Ishant Sharma to take his 250th wicket and join the elite club of Indian bowlers.
