England’s pack leader James Anderson is all set to add another feather to his cap. Anderson is standing at the doors of another record as he has 557 wickets under his bag. Thus, James Anderson is seven wickets away from leapfrogging legendary Australian pacer Glenn McGrath.
McGrath had scalped 563 wickets in his career of 124 Test matches at an average of 21.64 whereas James Anderson has taken 557 wickets in 141 Test matches at 26.85. After overtaking Glenn McGrath, James Anderson will become the leading wicket-getter as a fast bowler. Furthermore, he will become the fourth highest wicket-taker behind Muttiah Muralitharan (800), Shane Warne (708) and Anil Kumble (619).
Jimmy Anderson is going strong at age of 36 years.
Meanwhile, James Anderson is in fine form in the ongoing five-match series against India. He has scalped 17 wickets at an impressive average of just 14.88.
Furthermore, Anderson was the chief destroyer of the Indian batting line-up when these two teams had met at the same venue of Rose Bowl in Southampton in 2014. The swing master had scalped five wickets in the first innings and picked another two in the second dig.
Therefore, James Anderson was awarded the Player of the Match. Anderson had also taken four wickets while playing against Sri Lanka at Ageas Bowl. Thus, he has taken 11 wickets in the two Test matches played at Southampton.
Meanwhile, Anderson has taken more than 100 wickets while playing against India. He has also completed his century of wickets while playing against arch-rivals Australia.
On the other hand, Anderson has also enjoyed his battle with Indian skipper Virat Kohli. James Anderson vs Virat Kohli is a battle within a battle which has brought the spectators on the edge of their seat. Kohli has been cautious in his approach while facing up against Jimmy.
However, the butterfingers of England’s slip catchers has not been a friend to Anderson as Kohli has been dropped twice on his bowling.
The fourth Test match will take at Ageas Bowl, Southampton from tomorrow, 30 August.
