Team India speedster Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to get fit for the 2nd Test against England at Lord’s, which starts on 9th August.
It will be a huge blow to India who have been missing the services of Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the major part of the England tour. Especially after the 31-run defeat in Edgbaston, India would have loved to see Jasprit Bumrah back in the XI. However, he is unlikely to win the race against time for the 2nd Test match.

Jasprit Bumrah was named in the squad for the first three Tests despite fracturing his thumb during the T20I series in Ireland. The national selectors picked him and said he would be available for selection from the 2nd Test onwards.
However, it is highly unlikely the fast bowler will get considered for the Lord’s game given he has not fully recuperated from the injury.

Of late, Jasprit Bumrah has been bowling in the nest quite regularly. However, the thumb will need a bit more time before the speedster can bat, bowl and field without any discomfort.
“Jasprit Bumrah who has been included in the squad will be available for selection from the 2nd Test onwards based on his fitness,” BCCI had said while naming the squad.
The India pacers were quite impressive during the opening Test. However, the inconsistency of Umesh Yadav would give a headache or two to the team management. The Vidharbha pacer has not been able to make use of the favourable conditions abroad on a consistent basis. Umesh bagged just three wickets in the game which was largely dominated by the fast bowlers.
Bumrah had returned home during the limited-overs series against England. He underwent surgery in the UK before heading off to India.
The fast bowler returned with the Test specialists Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Cheteshwar Pujara. They joined the team before the start of the warm-up game against Essex.
