Former Australian skipper Steve Waugh has heaped praises on Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli had recently pipped Steven Smith and became the topmost ranked player in the ICC Test Rankings. Kohli now has 934 rating points and leads Smith by five points.
Kohli had scored a total of 200 runs in the first Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham. However, the Indian skipper was the lone warrior in the opening Test as he didn’t receive any support from the other end.

Meanwhile, Australia’s world cup winning captain Steve Waugh had recently said that Virat Kohli has got the best technique in the world.
In fact, there were doubts raised over skills of Indian skipper in England conditions given his poor track record of the previous tour of 2014. However, Kohli was able to quash any doubts over his credentials as he smashed all his critics.
Steve Waugh said Virat Kohli has got the game for all kinds of conditions. “He (Virat) has got the game to survive anywhere,” the Aussie legend said.
On the other hand, Steve Waugh believes that Virat Kohli cherishes the big stage. Kohli brings out his best when it matters the most, which is the hallmark of all great players. Therefore, Waugh compared Kohli with the likes of Brian Lara, Vivian Richards, and Sachin Tendulkar.

“He likes the big occasion, like Lara and Tendulkar and (Viv) Richards, and all the great batsmen – they want the big occasion and that brings out the best in their cricket,” Steve Waugh said.
Meanwhile, the toss for the second Test match between England and India at Lord’s is delayed. In fact, the lunch is also taken by both the teams.
It would be interesting to note the playing combination of both the sides. Kohli had said yesterday that he is contemplating to include two spinners. On the other hand, England will play either Moeen Ali or Chris Woakes.
