However, England was able to land the first punch, as they went up 1-0 in the series. It was an exciting start to the long array of matches, as the hosts won by a margin of 31 runs.
In fact, the match kept swinging like a pendulum, as both the teams battled a good contest. However, it was England who held their nerves better and won the crucial moments of the game to go 1-0 up in the series.
Thus, the hosts were the better side when it mattered the most. Sam Curran was the rising star for England, as the 20-year old youngster scalped five wickets and scored a total of 87 runs in the match.
On the other hand, it was disheartening for Virat Kohli, as he was the lone warrior. The Indian skipper scored a total 200 runs in the Test match. However, he ended up on the losing side, as he didn’t find any support from the other end.
Meanwhile, there have been some predictions made even before the series kick-started. Former England skipper Michael Vaughan also predicted the hosts would win the series by a margin of 3-1.
However, Stuart Broad went wicketless in the first innings. Nevertheless, the experienced bowler took two wickets in the second dig of the first Test of England vs India 2018 series.
