Former West Indies World Cup winning skipper Clive Lloyd believes that Virat Kohli captaincy is still a work in progress. Lloyd said that it is still young days for Virat Kohli in his captaincy tenure.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has thus far done a good job as the leader of the side. In fact, there are no doubts over his credentials as a world-class batsman. However, it is seen that sometimes Virat Kohli can be overaggressive in his approach.

Kohli is still young as Indian captain.

Therefore, the former legendary West Indies captain, Clive Lloyd believes that Virat Kohli still has got some work to do on his captaincy. The former southpaw batsman said that Kohli has shown the positive signs.

“I think Virat is still a work in progress and it will take us some time to take a final call on his captaincy. But yes, he has shown positive signs. Yes, he is aggressive, but as long as he doesn’t cross the line, it’s fine by me. Aggression, after all, is not a bad thing,” Lloyd said while talking to TOI.

Furthermore, Lloyd who led West Indies to their maiden World Cup title praised Virat Kohli’s predecessor, MS Dhoni. Lloyd was impressed with Dhoni tactics of the game.

“In recent times, it has to be Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni. Dhoni was such a fantastic captain you had. He was quite inspirational, a good tactician and led the team with a lot of authority. I liked his style of captaincy,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Windies great went on to add that every captain has his own style of leading a side. Llyod said that he was impressed by the leadership skills of Bishan Singh Bedi.

Probably you are right, but still, they are playing under the flag of one country. When I was playing I had seen five different Indian captains – Tiger Pataudi, Ajit Wadekar, Bishan Bedi, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev. They had their own distinctive styles. I found Bedi quite good,” Clive Llyod said.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli captaincy will be under the scanner in the ongoing Test series against England. Kohli has led with aplomb thus far and would aim to go a long way as the captain of the Indian team.
