It was not shocking that the match ended on the 3rd day. We knew India was struggling with batting in the entire Test Series. England WON the match and the Test Series as it was expected. England won the series by 3-1. The 3rd Day was was interesting because it was all England’s game. India didn’t stand a chance against England in bowling and batting. England showed some great batting and bowling skills and sealed the series today. India was challenged to score 338 runs but were all out for 94 runs. England won by an innings and 244 runs. This was miserable showcase of bowling and batting by India on the foreign soil and there were some splendid batting and bowling display by the English Team. Hits of the Day
1. Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan was the best performer today. He picked up 4 wickets in just 4.2 overs. He also contributed in the batting by providing 20 runs. His 4 wickets in quick concession brought India to it’s knees and prevented India from getting up the downward slide.
2. Joe Root
Joe Root continued his splendid batting showcase and was scoring runs at a high pace today. Indian bowlers were clueless. He scored another century today and was just 1 run short of the 150 runs. In the end he was not out for 149 runs. He was the last man standing against India.
3. Jos Buttler
The wicketkeeper scored some good runs today. He and Root scored 80 runs in partnership. Before returning back to the dressing room he had scored 45 valuable runs.
4. James Anderson
James Anderson picked up 2 wickets and in that too in the very start of the match by dismissing the openers.
5. Stuart Broad
Stuart Broad was also good at batting and bowling today. He scored 37 runs in the end and picked up the wicket of Rahane.
6. Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma was good at bowling today as he picked up another 2 wickets and ended the England innings. At the end of the innings he had 4 wickets in his hand.
Flops of the Day
1. Varun Aaron
Varun Aaron was chosen the target by the English batsmen as he received the most beatings and gave away a whopping 153 runs in just 29 overs. Joe Root was the one who took the most advantage of his bad bowling.
2. Murali Vijay
Murali Vijay struggled today also. It seems as if he has forgot how to bat. He gave back to back worse performance. He fell to Anderson to a LBW. He scored just 2 runs.
3. Gautam Gambhir
It seemed Gautam Gambhir was not in the mood of playing today. He looked lazy. He was run out by Woakes. He was running lazily, had he dived he would still have been not out. His score was a mere 3 runs.
4. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni looked like he was in great pressure. The pressure worked against him and he went for a duck. He was carrying the weight of the whole Indian batting line up on his shoulders and this looked today.
5. Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane was too unsuccessful today as he scored only 4 runs. He was also struggling with the bat.
