England vs Pakistan: Imam-Ul-Haq Becomes Youngest to Score 150-Plus Runs, Surpasses Kapil Dev
Thus far, Pakistan’s impressive opener Imam-Ul-Haq, who has been a focus of attention because of his relationship with the chief selector of Pakistan Cricket Team, has responded his critics with yet another hundred. The southpaw has broken the 36-year-old record set by the 1983 Team India World Cup-winning skipper – Kapil Dev.
Imam eclipses long-standing record of Kapil Dev:
At the age of 24, the prominent allrounder Dev has slammed 175 runs against Zimbabwe. Whereas, Imam has achieved the milestone aged 23 years and 153 days.
Interestingly, during the third One-day International (ODI) of the five-match series at the Bristol Imam went on to become highest individual run scorer for Pakistan against the Three Lions when he scored 151 off 131 deliveries.
Imam-Ul-Haq scores highest individual total for Pakistan against England:
Consequently, the excellent timer of the ball Imam has eclipsed his teammate Fakhar Zaman’s tally of 138 which he slammed during the second ODI at the Southampton.
The Lahore-born batsman has so far featured in 27 ODIs in which he has amassed 1381 runs at an average of 57.54. He has six hundreds and six half-centuries to his name since 2017.
But Pakistan went on to lose the game by six wickets despite posting the total of 358 runs.
In response, Jonny Bairstow has eclipsed Imam’s ton with his 128 off 93 balls. On the other side, Jason Roy has blasted 55-ball 76 before Moeen Ali, and skipper Eoin Morgan has overhauled the target of 359 in 44.5 overs.
However, following the beating received by Pakistan bowlers ace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has lambasted skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. He maintained there is plenty to ponder as the team couldn’t defend the 350-plus target.
“Another big total wasted. A lot to think when you cannot defend 358. As a captain, @SarfarazA_54 needs to step up and make solid decisions.” After winning the toss, England chose to bowl. Pakistan’s Imam-Ul-Haq scored 151 runs. Asif Ali chipped in with 52 runs and Haris Sohail made 41 runs from 41 balls.”
As of now, England leads the ODI series 2-0. Earlier, the first ODI was washed out. The penultimate ODI between the hosts England and Men in Green will be played at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham on May 17 (Friday).
