It has been a wonderful journey for Alastair Cook who has served England cricket for more than a decade. The left-hander has been the leading run-getter for England with 12,254 runs in the 160 Test matches. He has scored the most number of runs as an opener. Cook picked his team while speaking to Lord’s Cricket.

Meanwhile, Cook picked his coach Graham Gooch as the opener as well as the captain of his side. Gooch is one England’s finest and is the second leading Test run-scorer behind Cook.

Cook picked Australia’s pugnacious batsman Mathew Hayden as his second opener. One of the best batsmen of the world, Brian Lara takes the one down position in Cook’s team. Former Australia’s skipper Ricky Ponting bats at the fourth place for Cook.
