Eoin Morgan, the 2019 World Cup-winning skipper of England, was handed over captaincy midway through IPL 2020 — and KKR have won three and lost four matches. Under Dinesh Karthik, KKR had won four and lost three matches.

Pacer Pat Cummins returned with figures of 4/34 to bag Man of the Match award accounting for the wickets of Robin Uthappa, Ben Stokes, Steven Smith and Riyan Parag. Contributions from Pat Cummins and Eoin Morgan had helped KKR defeat Rajasthan Royals. Although the England skipper had scored a solitary fifty, he had an average of 41.8 to showcase his class.

KKR batted first and managed to score 191/7 after Shubman Gill scored  36 and Rahul Tripathi scored 39. The duo put up a 72 run second wicket partnership in 8 overs before a collapse saw KKR reeling at 99/5 in 13th over. But with the help of comeback man Andre Russell and later Pat Cummins, the England skipper helped KKR to reach the score of above 190.

Shubman Gill is the leading run-scorer for KKR this season with 440 runs averaging 33.84 with 3 half-centuries, and Brad Hogg credited him for starting excellently.

After this win, KKR have moved to the fourth spot in the points table with 14 points from 14 matches and are still hoping to qualify for playoffs. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals are now out from contention to qualify for playoffs after losing the match and are bottom placed in the points table with only 12 points from 14 matches.
