Eoin Morgan Will Be Up For T20I World Cup – Coach Trevor Bayliss
On Sunday, Eoin Morgan-led England became only the 3rd team after India and Australia to win the World Cup on their home soil. India had won the 2011 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium while Australia lifted the Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2015.
Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Team want their skipper Eoin Morgan to continue for one more year with ICC T20I World Cup set to take place in next 12 months of time. The head coach Trevor Bayliss, who will finish his contract after the Ashes hopes Morgan will continue to lead in 2020 World Cup as well.
England ended a long wait. They reached the final of the World Cup for the first time since 1992. In 2015, they were knocked out of the group stages. Several experts felt this was England’s best chance of winning the World Cup and the hosts did not disappoint.
England became the 6th team after West Indies, India, Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to win the World Cup. Certainly, Eoin Morgan will go down as the first skipper to lift the world cup for England team in the cricket history.
Eoin Morgan is a leader off the field as well – Trevor Bayliss
However, Bayliss, for whom the victory marked his final white-ball game in charge, believes Morgan will want to stay on and try to guide England to another world title in Australia.
As England continued their celebrations at The Oval on Monday, Bayliss said: “There is a T20 World Cup coming up in 12 months which I am sure he will be more than up for. [But] that will be an individual decision for him.”
“Morgs is the leader of not just the guys in the team but off the field as well. He is the one who has really driven this forward. I think the rest of the boys try and run through a brick wall for him and the effort that Ben Stokes put in yesterday was just an example of that.”
However, England finally achieved what they wanted it badly. Meanwhile, most probably, Eoin Morgan would love to stay as the skipper of the team, who always helped for the betterment of the team.
