Chris Lewis one of the most promising England all-rounder some time ago has been released from prison after serving a 6 year ban on being found guilty of smuggling. The 47 year old Lewis was regarded at a time as one of the most exciting talents in the country but was convicted for a 13 year sentence.

Lewis, who has 32 Test Caps for England was convicted in 2009. The player in an interview said that financial problems in the year 2008 led him into trying to smuggle £140,000 into the country in the form of dissolved cocaine.

He added that, at the time, he was afraid of his future and that he gave into the problems he was facing. He said that he was not able to think properly as a result but apologized and accepted that he had made some wrong choices which he should not have.

Lewis was an energetic pacer with 93 Test wickets to his name.  He said that even some time ago he still used to ask himself where everything went wrong during his time of 6 years in prison. He said that his time in jail was not disgusting and that it was a place to stop oneself from thinking anything negative.

He also added that he was happy to be able to start a new life again and that he will dedicate himself 100% to help prevent young cricketers make wrong choices and end up with a life like his.

Lewis and a former basketball player Chad Kirnon, were sentenced in May 2009 after being found guilty of carrying a liquid form of cocaine into Gatwick Airport on a flight from St Lucia. But now, Lewis is all ready to start his life away from any troubles.
