Former Indian Premier League Commissioner Lalit Modi made it clear on his social media handle that he had texted Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland to inform him that he would target him. The CEO is currently addressing himself over the ball-tampering scandal which broke out during the 3rd Test between Australia and South Africa at the Newlands in Cape Town.
Modi said to Sutherland that he is starting a new movement to get rid of the last of Srinivasan. He claimed to have written,
“You will go down. I can tell u now on your face. I am starting a movement to get rid of last of Srini (ex-BCCI president N Srinivasan) cronies. I don’t stab from the back. I am telling u in advance. U will be under tremendous scrutiny. Crooks like u. Need to be dealt with.” Modi continued: “It took me 8 years to get rid of all crooks in India. I am a patient man. You are next target. As u know you are bad for cricket. Not personal. But the game needs cleaning.”

The ball-tampering saga broke out last Saturday when Aussie opener Cameron Bancroft was caught on camera trying to apply a foreign substance on the ball in order to alter the condition of the ball. Captain Steve Smith admitted that the leadership group had hatched a plan during the lunch break and Bancroft was given the responsibility to carry out the heinous task.
Smith and Warner have been suspended for a year while Bancroft has been handed a 9 months suspension. Smith couldn’t control his emotions in the press conference yesterday and broke out a number of times. He was accompanied by his father.
