Exciting English all-rounder Chris Jordan replaces injured Mitchell Starc for RCB 1

The Indian Premier League’s Bangalore-based franchise, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have arguably the most star-studded squad in the current season of the IPL.

With players like Gayle, Kohli, De Villiers, Watson, Badree and Mitchell Starc all playing for the same team, it is easily one of the strongest franchise in the IPL this season.

However, recent reports have suggested that star Australian quickie Mitchell Starc is out for the rest of the tournament and it is now understood that RCB have already procured his replacement.

England national team all-rounder Chris Jordan has now officially put pen to paper and has signed for the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the rest of the IPL season.

Jordan, who went all the way to the World T20 2016 final in India is expected to leave England county team Sussex immediately to join the RCB squad in India.

The 27-year old is yet to play for the English domestic side this season after missing the initial rounds due to an elbow injury and it is understood that though he is now fit, it is best for both parties that the all-rounder leaves to India to be a part of the IPL.

Jordan was not picked up by any franchise in the auction earlier this season but his performances in the World T20 have seen him come to the spotlight as a decent death bowler for the English national team.

The English Cricket Board in the past revealed that they are more than happy for their players to gain invaluable knowledge participating in the cash-rich tournament but playing for the IPL might sprinkle water on the fire inside the player to represent his country in the longest format of the game.

With a series against Sri Lanka coming up on the horizon, Jordan will be hoping to find a place in the squad, especially with the injury to Mark Wood but the fact that he is leaving for the IPL so late in the tournament, tells a story.

The ECB has already revealed that all the players who will be a part of the test playing squad against Sri Lanka should be back in England by noon on May 6th but and all other players to report by May 17th.

With Jordan having little to no chance of making the test squad, he will be available for the IPL franchise up until the 17th of May.

However, it will be interesting to see if Jordan gets any kind of consistent game time in the star-studded RCB line-up.
