Former swashbuckling batsman Virender Sehwag had narrated an interesting incident of his long-time batting partner and celebrated cricketer Sachin Tendulkar when they were batting together in 2011 against South Africa.

“Once Sachin paaji [brother] and I were batting together against South Africa in 2011,” Sehwag was quoted by NDTV after he explained the story to ‘What the Duck’ – the programme hosted by Vikram Sathaye.

The 38-year-old Najafgarh-born former skipper Sehwag, who was animated, stated he hummed a song, in a bid to build on his concentration while facing the new ball some six years back.

“I felt that my focus was not there so I started humming a song and I played the entire first over humming the song, giving a good start,” Sehwag remarked.

Sehwag, who has been active on social media, reiterated he kept on ignoring what veteran Tendulkar kept on saying which further enraged the latter

“From the other end, paaji came and we met at the middle of the pitch and punched each others’ gloves. He said something but I kept humming the song,” Sehwag remarked.

However, both went on to share the cordial relationship since featuring for the national side.

Following the antics of Sehwag, Tendulkar was annoyed with the destructive batsman while stating the former is a self-centred.

“After that he came up to me and said talk to me but I still kept humming the song. After another over, he told me don’t be selfish talk to me,” Sehwag added.

Pertinently, after Sehwag kept on humming a song, Tendulkar was enraged and repeatedly stated to have a word.

“I am singing a song, I am playing well, the partnership is good but he said still talk a little. I said yes but I failed to do that so after that he scolded me a lot,” Sehwag reminisced.

Moreover, Sehwag in response was only shaking his head, before expressing to his teammate of enjoying the game.

“This happened for 4-5 overs. He would come say something and I would just shake my head and keep humming the song,” Sehwag further added.

It’s pertinent to point out that Sachin-Sehwag had played the best of the bowling line-ups of competitive opponents during their remarkable careers, as both have played a significant role for India, in the international fold.

“So, I finally said that I am in a good rhythm, so let me be in that rhythm, Sehwag said.

Recently, Sehwag took to micro-blogging website Twitter to acknowledge Tendulkar’s luxurious gift while adding the Mumbaikar has been a great role model for the youngsters.

Sehwag also thanked Tendulkar for the BMW 730Ld sports car, as the latter has been the representative of the Germany based automotive industry.

Sehwag has often praised the gentleman for his overwhelming support as both have morally supported each other during the difficult phase of their lives respectively.
