Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim during his press conference in Chittagong revealed the side is looking forward to face-off Australia which according to him will be a massive opportunity for him as a leader and players to give their best on the field against one of the top-notch team at the international level.
“Ofcourse it’s a big opportunity, not only for myself but for the whole team,” Rahim was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.
The 29-year-old Bogra-born wicket-keeper batsman Rahim is concurrently sweating it out in the nets while being the part of the ongoing pre-tournament training camp in Chittagong, in a bid to maintain the fitness which includes sophisticated drills and different workout to keep themselves ready for the five-day challenge.
“So everyone is very excited but everyone knows that it is going to be a very difficult challenge,” Rahim added.
In a bid to prepare for the Test series beginning from August 27 at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka, Rahim has vowed to perform while giving their hundred percent.
“We are trying heart and soul,” Rahim maintained.
The experienced right-handed batsman Rahim revealed it would boost the morale of the side to face quality side after 11 years at home.
“Since we don’t know when we might be able to play them again, it gives us added motivation to play well,” Rahim said.
Excited to lead his side, Rahim urged his teammates to work hard and give a hard fought against strong force like Australia while undergoing a training camp.
“There is a belief [among the players] that if we play well we will be able to give Australia a fight,” Rahim maintained.

It’s pertinent to mention, Bangladesh last time played a two-match Test series against Australia in 2006 which visitors won by 2-0 after Ricky Ponting-led claimed the first Test by three wickets in Fatullah and second Test by an innings and 80 at Chittagong in April 2006.
Following the Test-camp in Darwin, Australia’s 14-member squad will arrive in Bangladesh on August 18, before playing a two-day warm-up fixture between August 22-23.
Moreover, the second Test is scheduled at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium based-out in Chittagong.
Rahim has featured in 54 Tests for Bangladesh in which he scored 3,265 runs at an average of 35.48. He has smashed five hundreds and 17 fifties. Behind the stumps, Rahim has 12 stumps to his credit and 89 catches respectively under his belt.
