Fakhar Zaman confident of Pakistan repeating CT 2017 heroics v India in Asia Cup 1

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has hit the headlines recently for all the right reasons. The southpaw has been in phenomenal touch and has scored plenty of runs in limited overs cricket this year  He also achieved the feat of scoring 1000 ODI runs in least number of innings.

He has not set his sight on the upcoming Test series against Australia, which will be played in the UAE in October. The 28-year-old is the only Pakistan batsman to hit a double hundred in ODI. The explosive batsman hit the double ton against Zimbabwe in July.

Brilliance in ODIs augurs well for Zaman

With success in limited overs cricket, Zaman is now eyeing a good run in Test cricket. “I’m eager to play Test cricket. Currently, I’m rigorously preparing for the series against Australia and hope that I will be given an opportunity during the series.” he told Daily Express in an interview.

Zaman hopeful of repeating CT brilliance

Pakistan will participate in the Asia Cup from there on. It also means that fans will get to witness the mouth-watering rivalry between Indo-Pak. The opener is no alien to facing the men in blue. His match-winning knock in the Champions Trophy finals against India earned his side the trophy. Zaman feels his side can repeat the performance of the Champions Trophy and bag the Asia Cup too.

“We are preparing adequately in order to perform to the best of our ability. We are capable of repeating the performance we showed in the last Champions Trophy in England,” he said. Zaman also added that his knock in the final is the most memorable in his short career so far. Players are putting in the hard yards and hopefully we will perform in accordance with the expectations of the entire nation.” he said before signing off.
