Fan Asks Dale Steyn Which Team He Wants To Play For In IPL 2020? Cricketer Comes Up With Epic Response
Dale Steyn marked his comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL) last season when he was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as a replacement player for Nathan Coulter-Nile. Steyn pumped up RCB’s camp in two matches that he played and scalped four wickets. Although his stint came to an abrupt end as a shoulder issue ruled him out of the tournament.
Not just that, it also saw him miss the World Cup 2019 and with Steyn unlikely to play 2023 World Cup, the right-arm pacer is focussed on playing T20 World Cups 2020 and 2021. Keeping an eye on twin World Cups, Steyn will enter the IPL auction next month and is expected to get bidding from franchises.
After being released by RCB, a fan asked Steyn about his choice – which team does he want to play in the next season? The South African pacer came up with an epic reply to the query from the fan. Here is how he reacted –
Steyn was one of the top bowlers in the T20 league for first seven seasons but his appearances dwindled in 2016 as he got just one match for Gujarat Lions. Later that year, he suffered a shoulder injury during the opening Test against Australia and was ruled out action for almost than 10 months. He made his comeback to international cricket against India in January 2018.
Steyn had entered the IPL 2018 auction a base price of Rs 1 Crore but found no buyers. In 2019, he increased his base price to Rs 1.5 Crores and again went unsold. However, with Nathan Coulter-Nile backing out of IPL once again, RCB roped in the senior pacer this year.
This year, he is expected to enter the auction at Rs 2 Crore as Steyn looks set to get an IPL contract right in the auction. Though franchises will surely consider his troubled shoulder before bidding for him.
The IPL 2020 auction takes place on December 19 in Kolkata.
