Before the historic 500th Test Indian fans, former cricketers, cricket journalists were busy selecting their own all-time Test XI, but now following India’s first Test victory in the new season against New Zealand at Green Park, Kanpur; Indian fans selected their “Dream XI”.
It was interesting and the selection also reflected how Indian cricket fans consume the game and their wisdom about the Test cricket.
Among the notable cricketer, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar received only 73 percent vote from Indian fans while ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin got only 53 percent. Among the batsmen, Rahul Dravid received the 96 % vote, the highest and among the bowlers Anil Kumble, the current coach, received 92 percent.
The 12th man Yuvraj Singh’s selection even didn’t mean anything. There were cricketers who played fewer matches but were extremely talented and had the caliber to play the Test cricket. Gundappa Viswanath and Mohammad Azharuddin were not even considered for the 12th man’s position.
