The Indian batting collapsed like a pack of cards against a resurgent Sri Lankan bowling unit. None of the Indian batsmen could resist the Sri Lankan pacers, who despite their inexperience, proved to be way too effective for the Indians. Electing to bowl first on a lush green wicket, Dinesh Chandimal’s side made the most of the conditions as debutant pacer Kasun Rajitha struck twice in the very first over to get rid of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane. The Indians terribly missed their best batsman, Virat Kohli, who has been rested for the 3 match T20I series.
The pitch was so green that one could be forgiven for calling it a Trent Bridge wicket rather than a pitch laid out at Pune. Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh were guilty of throwing away their starts and allowed the Sri Lankan bowlers to boss the game.
Fans on Twitter mocked team India for a lackluster batting performance and below are some of the tweets.
