Stats: Fastest ODI Fifty in World Cup History

The biggest tournament of cricket is here and it cannot get any better when we see the ball flying out of the park every delivery. Yes, the World Cup started with many big team scores but we were yet to see an innings that would just amaze us. While we have seen batsmen play intelligent and planned cricket, a blistering knock was still missing, and today we finally got to witness this and it has come from none other than the New Zealand team’s captain Brendon McCullum.

McCullum was in the form of his life and in a World Cup match against England, 20th February at Wellington, it got even better as McCullum got the record of fastest fifty in a World Cup match to his name.

Let us take a look at List of Fastest fifty first and discuss further:

Brendon McCullum against England broke his own record of fastest fifty in a World Cup match. He earlier held the record against the Canadian team by scoring 50 in just 20 balls and today against England he bettered his record reach the half century mark in just 18 deliveries.

Brendon McCullum in an innings off 77 against England hit 8 boundaries and 7 sixes which also included 4 consecutive ones against Chris Woakes. Chasing a target of 123 against England thanks to a tremendous bowling spell by Tim Southee, very few expected McCullum to start off his innings like he did. But you can expect the unexpected from McCullum and today was one such innings.

Will this record be bettered in this season of World Cup? Possible but who will do it?
