High-flying Team India might have got compliments from all quarters for their consistent form in Tests over the last couple of years, but Virat Kohli & Co. received perhaps the best compliment till date after their impressive win over Sri Lanka in the second Test, with the praise coming from none other than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

It was a comprehensive performance from the world number one side as they battered the Islanders by an innings and 239 runs in Nagpur. After bowling out the visitors for just 205 in the first innings, India scored a mammoth 610 for six declared with Virat Kohli leading from the front by playing a sublime knock of 213. Cheteshwar Pujara, Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma also made their presence felt with brilliant centuries.

After the batsmen made merry in the Orange city, it was Indian bowlers’ chance to join the party, and they did not disappoint, bowling out the beleaguered visitors for just 166 to fire the hosts to a huge win. Spin spearhead Ravichandran Ashwin, who had failed to pick up a single wicket in the first Test, starred with the ball by picking up four wickets while Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja accounted for two wickets apiece.

Impressed with the clinical performance of the team, Tendulkar took to Twitter to lavish praise on it, saying he was proud of the players. The Master Blaster also singled out Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay, Rohit Sharma and Ashwin in his tweet. Kohli’s latest knock has made him the India captain with most Test centuries while Vijay and Rohit made their comeback into the side worth remembering by scoring fine tons. On the other hand, Ashwin became the quickest to 300 Test wickets, bettering the record set by Dennis Lillee 36 years ago.
