ToggleThe death of former Finance minister Arun Jaitley is saddening for cricket world. His contribution to cricket is unforgettable. To memorise his work, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Tuesday decided to rename Feroz Shah Kotla to Arun Jaitley Stadium.

On September 12, the stadium will be renamed and also a stand will be named after Virat Kohli. The program will be held in Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju.
Speaking on this initiative, DDCA president Rajat Sharma said: “It was Arun Jaitley’s support and encouragement that players like Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Rishabh Pant and many others could make India proud.”
Arun Jaitley Contribution will be remembered
He spent 14 years with DDCA. During his Tenure, Delhi Cricket Progressed a lot. After 16 years Delhi made its first win in Ranji Trophy. It was because of his hard work that we have got stunning gems in Indian Cricket.
“All I seek is support from the cricketers,” he remarked after assuming the power of Feroz Shah Kotla.
Arun Jaitley is credited for the renovation of Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium into the world-class ground and helping player to shine in future. Many senior cricketers sad that we have lost a precious leader.
As former India opener, Virender Sehwag said, “Arun Ji was a gem. He backed the players. Did so much for the needy cricketers. Helped them get jobs, met their medical expenses, organised travel by air for all age groups. He was a players’ man in the top seat of DDCA. Delhi cricket and cricketers owe a lot to him. In his death, Delhi cricket has lost its most dedicated supporter.
